Dr. Maxine N. Lurie, Professor Emerita at Seton Hall University, will discuss Revolutionary New Jersey through the lens of her book Taking Sides in Revolutionary New Jersey: Caught in the Crossfire. The presentation will explore how New Jersey was deeply divided during the American Revolution, with Patriots, Loyalists, and neutral residents caught in a bitter civil conflict. Dr. Lurie will discuss the difficult choices faced by ordinary people and why New Jersey became one of the war’s most heavily impacted regions.
